Police Officer Hits Valet in Houston Parking Lot

Police reports state that the officer was pursuing a suspect in the parking lot and hit the man by accident.

March 5, 2019 – 2:00 am: A police officer hit a valet while chasing a suspect in a parking lot in southwest Houston very early on Tuesday morning. The valet was hospitalized with minor injuries and is expected to be okay.

According to a spokesman from HPD, the accident took place in the parking lot of a strip mall in the 6400 block of Hillcroft.

Police were trying to stop a vehicle in the parking lot. The suspect went around an officer’s vehicle, and the officer went into reverse to continue the pursuit. The vehicle reversed into the valet, who was running between vehicles at the time of the accident.

The suspect was able to evade police, but there’s no active search for them underway.

The identities of those involved in the accident have not been made public at this time. The valet’s injuries are reported to be minor. The officer driving the vehicle was not injured in the accident.

There is no word on whether any disciplinary action will be called for against the officer or why officers were pursuing the suspect.
