\t\t\t\tMore research is being done to reveal some serious Topamax side effects. One of those is a birth defect that occurs during the early stages of fetal development. Studies have shown a link between a pregnant woman taking Topamax and oral clefts being present at birth. The fetus\u2019 mouth opening or the roof of their mouth is not completely formed in this case. This may occur if the mother is taking this medication during her first trimester of pregnancy.<\/p>

Topamax is a commonly dispensed medication for people who suffer with migraines and seizures. Although not much is known about how it eases the pain of migraines, a lot is known about its effects on seizures. The medication slows down and balances the nerve activity in the brain.
