On December 17, 2019, a cement truck collided with an Amtrak train headed from Los Angeles to New Orleans. The crash took place near FM 1960 and County Road 621 just west of Dayton. There were 78 passengers and 12 crew members on the train, and we continue to learn more about what happened through our ongoing investigation. <\/p>

The accident and injury law office of Terry Bryant is representing several people injured in this train collision<\/a>. These incidents are unfortunate, and they are almost always preventable. <\/p>\n

It\u2019s puzzling why such a dangerous area can continue to pose such a threat. 19 people were injured when an 18-wheeler collided with an Amtrak train in August, yet little changed in the months since.<\/p>\n

Commercial Drivers Have an Obligation to Others<\/h2>\n

All drivers have a responsibility to be as safe as possible when behind the wheel. As professionals, commercial drivers have an even greater duty. They operate large vehicles that pose a greater danger to others when driven recklessly, leading to distracted driving accidents<\/a>. <\/p>\n

When a truck collides with a train, serious consequences are inevitable. Drivers must still look carefully before crossing the tracks. No one should suffer needlessly because of someone else\u2019s carelessness. <\/p>\n

Train Collisions Continue to Be a Problem in the U.S.<\/h2>\n

In 2017, the most recent year for which statistics are available, 232 people died in railroad crossing accidents in the U.S., according to the Department of Transportation. A person or vehicle is struck by a train every three hours. These statistics tell the story of how far we have to go before we can call our train systems or railroad crossings safe in this country. Meanwhile, people continue to suffer preventable injuries for the shortcomings of others.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
